At DogVacay, we’re passionate about dogs and pet care, and we make it easy for pet owners to find awesome sitters. The idea: your pet can stay in a real home with a loving sitter while you’re away, whether you’re traveling or just out for the day!
To us, everyone should have a dog (or two or three). On the fence? If you relate to any of these 17 signs below, we see a pup in your future.
And guess what—we’ll be joining Animal Planet this June 27 in Chicago for Woofstock: The Road to Puppy Bowl! Join us to meet adorable adoptable pups from PAWS Chicago, and you just might go home with your furry best friend!
- You strategically choose who to brunch with based on whether or not they have a dog. What? You just happen to believe that sipping mimosas and enjoying canine company is the best way to spend a Saturday morning!
- Your Netflix queue is chock full of acclaimed titles like 101 Dalmatians, Hachi: A Dog’s Tale, and Homeward Bound.
- If you opened your internet history, you’d find the homepage of your local shelter, Adopt-A-Pet, Petfinder, and a purveyor of artisanal dog toys.
- Coincidentally, your most recent Google searches were “pictures of dogs being cute,” “can a puppy be too cute?,” and “is it normal for my heart to feel like it’s about to burst when I look at dog pictures?”
- Your Instagram feed is basically all puppies. Who even follows anything else? Your only exception is hedgehogs.
- When you’re out on a run, the only thing on your mind when you see that spectacular sunrise is how awesome it would be to have a four-legged running partner to share this moment with.
- You always check to see if the restaurant you’re going to is dog-friendly. Just because.
- Given how many photos of dogs you post on Facebook, your friends are always surprised to find out you don’t have a dog.
- During the holidays, you only put up cards from people who included their dog.
- Your DVR is full of episodes of The Dog Whisperer, Dogs with Jobs, and pretty much any and all Animal Planet and Nat Geo Wild shows. It’s educational.
- Your eyes glaze over when people pull out photos of their kids but once they whip out pictures of their pups, you light up and are too excited to speak in coherent sentences.
- You love picnics in the park, especially when they happen near the best dog park in town. What’s the harm in quietly observing?
- You keep a running list of your favorite dog names under lock and key. If any of your friends used one of them, you’d be devastated.
- You have a bad habit of completely disregarding someone you meet if they have a dog with them. You can’t help it; puppy eyes are irresistible.
- You always find yourself in the dog treat section of the supermarket. Most of the time you don’t even remember how you got there or why you let yourself buy three bags of organic beef rawhides.
- You signed up to be a pet sitter and when it’s time for your canine client to leave, you spend the rest of the night binge-eating ice cream and singing along to sad songs on the radio.
- You spend most of your weekends volunteering at the local shelter. You’re almost always there until closing time and leaving is the hardest part.
